Pulstar is pleased to announce that we now carry ROBROY Enclosures which includes both Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures, the most frequently specified non-metallic electrical enclosures in the world, balancing appealing aesthetics with stringent physical property performance standards including NEMA 4X and NEMA 6P integrity, along with Attabox Polycarbonate Enclosures, which are made with revolutionary design and custom solutions.
Attabox Enclosures are intended to be utilized for outdoor and indoor applications. The polycarbonate contained in the Heartland Series as well as the enclosures have passed UL tests for suitability. The Lexan polycarbonate resin in the Heartland Series received the best rating, an “F1” per UL 746C. This means that the resin has passed tests for UV exposure and water immersion.
The Heartland Series enclosures are rated 3R, 4, 4X, 12 per UL 50. This means that the enclosure provides ingress (rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water), impact, and flame protection. The material rating and the product rating can assure the user that the Heartland Series enclosures are suitable for outdoor use and exposure.
Enclosures come in a variety of sizes and customization of enclosures to meet specific needs can be accomplished in many situations. Enclosure accessories such as DIN rail kits, Pole Mount Rails Kits, vents and Latch kits are also available.

Pete Magnuson, president of Pulstar, announced today that Pulstar has added the family of Tallysman GPS/GNSS antennas and receivers to its product portfolio. Tallysman, based in Ottawa Canada is a developer, provider and manufacturer of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) antennas and related products as well as GPS fleet management solutions for two way radio systems.
Tallysman’s Accutenna® technology has proven its ability to provide superior multi-path signal rejection thereby providing un-matched precision for its size and price. Accutenna® technology:
• Employs Tallysman’s unique dual feed patch technology
• Provides truly circular response over the entire antenna bandwidth
• Provides superior rejection of multi-path and cross polarized signals
• Offers pre-filtering option to provide additional protection from near band signals
• Is available for only GPS L1 coverage or multi-constellational coverage (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo)
Tallysman’s VeraPhase® technology introduces new patented technology which provides a high gain and low loss antenna with extremely low axial ratios through all elevations and azimuth angles across all frequencies. It ensures an excellent front back ratio and a low roll off to keep a fair amount of gain at horizon for low elevation tracking. It also provides millimeter level PCV through all elevations and azimuth angles across all frequencies. The Phase Centre Offset is virtually identical for all GNSS frequencies. In brief, this technology rivals all other geodetic and reference antennas in the market.
With the addition of the Tallysman product line Pulstar broadens its offerings for its customers seeking solutions for asset tracking and surveillance, sports performance, precision agriculture, fleet tracking, Marine navigation and other location based applications. For more information please contact Pulstar. You can also view the Tallysman product line here:

PCTEL’s GPS/GLONASS high-performance asset tracking and synchronization helix antennas are now available commercially. The antennas capture the frequencies needed for GPS, Galileo and GLONASS satellite reception. This cross-compatibility allows global OEMs to use one standard platform to serve both European and U.S. markets.
PCTEL will display its new IP67-rated GEO-GNSS antennas and other mobile and GPS antennas Sept. 16-17 at ION GNSS+, Booth #416.
PCTEL uses its proprietary filtering design to allow wideband coverage while achieving superior out-of-band rejection, the company said. The small form-factor helix antennas will withstand harsh environments.
“Customers expect PCTEL to solve challenging problems,” said Rishi Bharadwaj, PCTEL’s vice president and general manager, Connected Solutions. “We designed PCTEL’s GEO-GNSS series for complex asset tracking and network timing applications.”

The future of public safety was the topic at hand at the National Number Association (NENA) Conference & Expo. NENA and FirstNet, the first high-speed nationwide wireless broadband network provider dedicated to public safety, are helping lead efforts that will transform public-safety communications. Improving emergency response is a key goal in this endeavor, where both FirstNet and NENA are seeking the enhancement of communications for first responders and public safety assistance.
The focus isn’t just regional either, it’s national. FirstNet and NENA want to bring broadband connectivity to both rural and remote areas, as well as urban. “It’s surprising to me how many people are unaware of this initiative”, says FirstNet Chairwoman Sue Swenson. “It’s obviously very important for the people in this country, and it’s always surprising to find out that people are not that aware of it.”

Samsung mobile may have found the way to a longer cell phone battery life, according to testing done by members of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and Energy Material Lab in Korea. According to their studies, silicon coating added to the traditional lithium-ion layer of the battery increased energy densities “from 1.5 to 1.8 times greater than current levels.”
Silicon is gaining attention in the technology world as the next-generation lithium-ion battery “because of its unparalleled gravimetric capacity,” according to the results published in Nature Communications.
Engineers in the mobile technology world have been relentlessly working on ways to prolong cell phone battery life, with little-to-no success. One success story, however, comes from Singapore, when Nanyang Technological Institute found a way to charge a dead battery up to 70% in less than two minutes.
More tests are needed before any technology hits the consumer market.
